Slam Poetry Competitions

High-Impact Slam Performances for Local and National Stages.

As a national slam poet, Urban Echo 2025 Slam Champion, and Motown Mic 2025 2nd Place winner, I’m available for slam competitions and slam-style events across the U.S. I require at least 4 months’ notice for out-of-state bookings to allow for travel, preparation, and scheduling. If you’re curating a slam or need a featured poet who understands the culture and energy of slam poetry, I’d love to be part of it.

Answers to Your Questions

  • I typically need to know the event type, date, location (or if it’s virtual), how long you’d like me to perform or teach, and how many people will be involved if it’s a workshop. From there, I can provide a tailored quote.

  • Yes. I travel anywhere in the U.S. for performances, workshops, and slam events, as long as we plan far enough in advance to handle travel and logistics.

  • Yes. I offer virtual performances, workshops, and podcast appearances. Virtual events are a great option for schools, organizations, and teams that are spread out geographically.

  • Absolutely. For performance sets, I can select poems that align with your theme. For custom poems or highly specific themes, I’ll ask a few additional questions so the work feels true to your message and audience.

  • My background includes the Black church and ministry, and that shows up in my cadence and some of my stories. However, I tailor my set to your audience and the context of your event, whether it’s faith-based, secular, academic, or community-focused.

  • For local events, earlier is always better, but at least 4–6 weeks is ideal. For out-of-state events or slam competitions, I prefer a minimum of 4 months’ notice to plan travel and scheduling.

  • Recording policies depend on the event. If you plan to record, please let me know in advance so we can agree on usage and permissions.
